Savannah born and bred, Sally McCreery Jackson has been Carpe Diem’s sole photographer since she opened its doors as Savannah’s very first female-owned studio in 1992. “Miss Sally’s” genuine interest in and affection for her clients has earned her a loyal following, some of whom are now bringing a second generation of children in for Carpe Diem’s signature style of classically polished portraiture leavened with a generous dose of down-to-earth realism and quirky fun. Her portraits have the sought-after quality of enduring style — always current and appealing without copying widespread trends that become dated and undesirable before long. Carpe Diem Studios’ portraits of brides, children, families and pets are designed to be heirloom possessions, enjoyed equally by generation after generation.
Currently serving as President of the Georgia Professional Photographers Association, Sally has been very active in service and continuing photographic education in that organization for over two decades. She received her formal training in Photography and Graphic Design at the University of Georgia, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She has taught Creative Photography to the public at Armstrong Atlantic State University, and she has been the featured speaker for professional photographers’ groups in the state of Georgia and beyond. Sally competes at the professional level in photographic print competitions, winning awards in Fine Art and in Portraiture and is a recipient of the coveted Kodak Gallery Award. Sally is one of very few Georgia photographers to be a Professional Photographers of America Certified Professional Photographer, indicating that her knowledge of professional photography skills has been rigorously tested, her portfolio of work is regularly reviewed to ascertain proficiency and growth, and her business ethics conform to the highest levels of professionalism.
